After preparing the season with the Dutch squad, it has now been confirmed that the Spaniard will race with MP in Bahrain at least.
The former F1 driver already competed in F2 last year when he joined Campos for the second round in Barcelona before switching to Rapax for the races in Spa, Monza and Abu Dhabi. Especially when racing with the Italian outfit, he collected points multiple times and showed his experience time and time again.
Merhi, who is mostly known for his 13 starts for Manor in Formula 1, shifted his focus towards LMP2, where he raced in 7 rounds of the 2016 WEC season. In 2017, his one and only race apart from F2 was at the Nürburgring in one of Manor’s LMP2 cars.
This year, Merhi tested the new Dallara F2 2018 both at Paul Ricard and in Bahrain with MP Motorsport, where he could be found in the second half of the table most of the time.
