Alexander Albon, Baku 2018
Round 2: who did and who did not live up to expectations?

Let’s have a look at how well each driver did in the previous round.

Top performers

George Russell

Qualified an excellent third, led the feature race until he was forced wide on the Safety Car restart by de Vries, then won the sprint race from 12th on the grid.

Alexander Albon

He took his maiden pole while his experienced team mate was last; lost the lead of the feature race due to a slow pit stop and then overtook Fuoco for the win after the turn 1 mayhem. He stalled before the sprint race.

Flop performers

Artem Markelov

Qualified horribly, retired due to engine troubles after an excellent recovery and a mistake on the Safety Car restart. He then stalled at the start of the sprint race to end the weekend pointless.

Roy Nissany

After a promising qualifying session, he crashed out of 5th in the feature race, then run twice in the escape roads in the sprint race and retired.
